Dear Parents and Carers, The children have had a great half term and have been enjoying their learning through our whole school quest, ‘When Do I? Where Do I?’ They really showed interest in looking at and thinking about old toys that you and their grandparents used to play with. In circle time, we talked about ‘Where do I live’’? encouraging the children to talk about their families and their homes too. Mental Health Week gave the children opportunities to join in with a range of activities to help them begin to recognise and share their feelings. We also talked about our friends and collectively, created a collage ‘kindness garden’ which now enhances our role play home area. This week, we have enjoyed listening to a colour poem, which helps children begin to connect their emotions and emotion-words to feelings and colours. Next half term, we will be starting off with Book Fortnight. It would be lovely if the children could bring in a favourite book to share. Please make sure their name is in their book and I’ll endeavour to read them all with the children over the course of time! As nursery is very much part of the main school, we will also be celebrating Book Character day. Children are welcome to dress up in their favourite book character clothes, but please don’t feel you have to buy anything special for this event. I have a good collection of dressing up clothes here in nursery, if needed. Later in March, the school council are aiming to raise money and donations for Stockport Food Bank and Make-a-Wish charity. They are asking the children to wear ‘odd shoes’ on this day. It sounds fun to do, but please could you make sure that footwear is even as they are still learning to coordinate their movements and I don’t want the children to feel off balance. Perhaps you could add different things to trainers or wellies eg coloured laces/bows, tie in/tape on a small toy? It’s up to you! Thank you so much for your continued support, The Early Years Nursery Team Dates for your diary
