Reception Newsletter 08/06/2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is so lovely to see the children return to school refreshed and ready for their last half term in Reception.  It’s amazing to reflect on how quickly the year has flown!
As we look ahead to the final few weeks of the summer term, we have plenty of exciting activities planned.  These will give the children opportunities to celebrate their achievements, enjoy time with their friends and make lasting memories as the children look forward to their school visit to Imagine That! 

In this final half term, we are learning to: 

• Recall number facts within 10, exploring ways to make 10.  E.g. 7 and 3 make 10.
• Practically add and subtract and begin written calculations within 10.
• Share and group amounts practically.
• Write simple sentences using their k
  
• nowledge of phonics and tricky words
  taught so far. 
• Start a sentence with a capital letter and ends with a full stop.
• Explore nature through our learning walks and outdoor learning; looking for
  signs of summer, including finding out about minibeasts and their habitats.
• Care and understand for our world, in particular the creatures in our
  immediate environment.
• Learn songs for Norbury Fest.
• Practise a range of activities for sports day including running and skipping races.

 
As the weather is so changeable, please make sure your child has a combination of suitable clothing brought into school so your child can fully enjoy outdoor learning and lunchtime play e.g. sun hat, showerproof coat and sun cream for the weeks ahead.  Please could we also ask for any spare socks and tights etc to be returned.
