Welcome to Nursery
The Early Years provides the roots and foundations to a child’s knowledge and attitude towards their learning and is therefore a crucial part of their educational journey. We believe that at Norbury Hall, we provide an engaging and safe environment for all the children in our care to grow and develop. We feel that it is essential to provide a learning environment that helps to shape the whole child and develop their characteristics of learning, where they can imagine, create and explore!
Our nursery team nurture and support children in becoming happy, confident and resilient learners. We are passionate about what we do and always strive for our children to be the best they can be!

Nursery 2025-2026
A huge welcome to all of our new children into Nursery, we are so excited to get to know you all and your whole family properly. We loved having all the children and adults in Nursery on Wednesday, it was brilliant to see all the children exploring the different areas both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms. We have also spent this Thursday and Friday completing home visits.
Next week (week beginning the 8th of September) we will continue with our transition programme and welcome children into the nursery for two 2- hour sessions. We encourage these sessions to be drop-off, but we will obviously work with yourselves if you feel you want to stay in nursery for a little bit to help settle your child. During these sessions, we will be exploring the areas some more, having a story and snack together.
Then from the week beginning the 15th of September 2025, children will be in for the full allocated hours.
Now you have all met us, we thought we would just let you know who will be working when:

If you have not yet returned your forms, it would be great if you could bring them to the sessions next week. We have some spare forms too if these are needed, so please do ask one of us. Over the weekend, we will be setting up Tapestry accounts.
If you have returned the Tapestry letter and consented, then you will be receiving an email to activate your account.
Sometimes these emails do go to the junk folder, but if you have consented and not received your email by Monday please
speak to one of us. Tapestry is our online tool that we use each week. This online service allows us to share all the amazing things we’ve been up to in nursery, show you photos of your child’s learning and adventures and offer some key communication updates.
Please bring a packed lunch for your child to enjoy at lunchtime and the following items to be kept in school…

Learning in Nursery
We provide a fun and exciting environment linked to the Early Years curriculum with play at the heart of our learning.
We also believe strongly in following children’s interests and will take our learning in ways that follow these. Our nursery team initiate imaginative ideas that engage the hearts and minds of learners in order to achieve deep learning. We provide our learners with time to find their own unique talents by providing opportunities for their natural aptitude and personal passions to come together. We are blessed with fantastic grounds here at Norbury Hall and use our outdoor environment as much as our inside one.
Throughout the nursery day our experienced staff teach small group sessions of phonics – exploring Phase One and Two Letters and Sounds and maths, which is taught in meaningful contexts. Our class circle time sessions focus on engaging the hearts and minds through mindfulness activities and story immersion, where we encourage language development and telling skills based on first hand experiences.

Nursery Offer
At Norbury Hall, we have a 40-place nursery for 3-4-year olds. We offer 15 hours a week, working on a two-and-a-half-day basis.
We may be able to offer a small number of 30-hour places with an additional cost to cover additional hours over a cross over lunch period on a Wednesday. We can discuss this with families once places have been allocated.
We strive to keep you aware of what is happening on a weekly basis at nursery and what your child is learning about. We will do this online through newsletters and Tapestry. We also love hearing about your child’s experiences and achievements from outside of nursery.
