Quest is three-dimensional learning
Quest embraces all aspects of our curriculum impact
The narrative is key in terms of steering the Quest. Quest creates a story whereby the children and teacher are part of the narrative. Drama techniques are used to present the narrative and to immerse the children in the story. The narrative thinks about people, places and problems – problems are key in the process as we create dilemmas to make our children think. Learning objectives are closely matched to each element of the narrative – this involves the acquisition of both skills and knowledge.
We organise our Quest learning across the three terms. We focus on one or two curriculum areas to drive each Quest. We have found that this enables us to teach a subject area in more depth and allows our learners to rehearse skills in a more concentrated way.
For 2024 / 2025 our Quests are organised in the following way:
- It follows a narrative
- It gives our learners meaningful high-quality learning experiences and outcomes
- It robustly meets curriculum objectives – there is a clear progression across the year groups
Quest embraces all aspects of our curriculum impact
- Independent Enquirers – plan their work and make reasoned decisions
- Reflective Learners – evaluate their performance and strive for future goals
- Team Workers – use the power of working in collaboration
- Self-Managers – personal responsibility for learning
- Effective Participators – engaging with the issues around them and in the wider world
- Creative Thinkers – generating new ideas and making connections
